Cat-A-Logue Privacy Policy

# Cat-A-Logue Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

Cat-A-Logue is designed to keep your catalogue private and local to your device.

## Information We Collect

Cat-A-Logue lets you save animal sightings, including photos, names, breeds, notes, stats, dates, and optional sighting locations.

Most of this information is stored locally on your device. We do not operate our own server for your catalogue, and we do not upload your catalogue photos, notes, animal names, or saved sightings to our own backend.

## Photos

When you add a sighting, Cat-A-Logue may use a photo from your camera or photo library.

Photos are stored locally on your device. The app uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework to analyse photos, classify whether they appear to contain a cat, bird, or dog, and help match repeat sightings. This analysis is performed on device.

We do not use photos for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

## Location

If you allow location access, Cat-A-Logue may save the approximate place where a sighting was recorded. The app may also use Apple location and map services to turn a coordinate into a readable place name. This is not shared automatically with us, but in future versions of the app you may choose to share it with your friends.

Location access is optional. If you deny location permission, you can still use the app.

You can change location permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

## Purchases

Cat-A-Logue uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and premium unlocks. RevenueCat may process purchase history, App Store receipt information, and an anonymous app user identifier so the app can confirm purchases, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and unlock paid features.

Cat-A-Logue does not collect your payment card details. Payment processing is handled by Apple.

## Tracking and Advertising

Cat-A-Logue does not show third-party ads.

Cat-A-Logue does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Cat-A-Logue does not sell your personal information.

## Data Sharing

We do not share your local catalogue data with advertisers or data brokers.

Some limited data may be processed by third-party services required for app functionality:

– Apple, for App Store purchases, camera/photo permissions, location permissions, and map/location services.

– RevenueCat, for purchase validation and premium entitlement management.

## Data Storage and Deletion

Your catalogue data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app will remove locally stored app data from that device.

Purchase records may continue to exist with Apple and RevenueCat as needed for purchase history, refunds, fraud prevention, entitlement restoration, and legal or accounting requirements.

## Children’s Privacy

Cat-A-Logue is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not include social features, public profiles, advertising tracking, or user accounts. In the future we may allow you to share your sightings with your friends and your other social media platforms e.g. by sending an SMS message or posting to Instagram, depending on what other apps you already have installed.

## Security

We use platform-provided protections where available, including iOS app sandboxing. However, no storage or transmission method is completely secure.

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy if the app’s features or data practices change. The “Last updated” date will be changed when the policy is updated.
