Hamaguchi Apps

This is a lovely app to practice verbs and subject-verb-object sentence structures. The child is asked to choose between 3 characters, three verbs and finally three objects. When the selection is made, a nice clear voice says the word. There is a prompt for the child to say the sentence they’ve constructed, and then a nice motivating animation and the sentence read out.

It is very simple, but a real winner for the child being able to use it independently without losing the ‘therapeutic’ content. This is true of all the Hamaguchi apps – they are much better than their utilitarian design would suggest. No problems with crashes, and been around long enough to have versions compatible with older iPads. I used this when the SALT pointed out that Squid’s speech was missing the verbs.
