I wanted to love ‘Why?’, but it never really appealed to Squid. I got it to practice answering ‘Wh…’ questions. My SALT explained that there was a ‘ladder’ – starting with the simplest questions ‘What’ (e.g. ‘What is she wearing’) and ending in questions requiring much more inference and abstract language (like the Why question in the picture).
This app has nice features like spoken voice and chance to record yourself, However, my child couldn’t use it without my active engagement. If I was actively engaged, it quickly became obvious that I could think of much more motivating questions myself (e.g. Why is your brother hiding under the chair).
